    Agroclimatic resources The Tambov Region is characterized by a high level of development in the agricultural sector; this is due to:
    1) favorable climatic conditions. The climate of the region is moderate-continental with quite warm summers and fairly cold, frosty winters; the annual average temperature is 4-5 ° C, but it varies from year to year from 2,3 to 7,6 °C; The average temperature during the warmest month (July ) is 18,8-20,7 ° C; the coldest month(s) (January-February ) is - 10,3-11,8 ° C. The total amount of rainy days in a year are between 120–170 days(mainly in small amounts); the monthly number of days with precipitation fluctuates between 11-12 during the warmer months (the sum of 300-350 mm. ) and 15-16 days during the colder months (the sum of 130-150 mm. ) . The vegetation period on average begins on April 5-10th and ends on October 25-30th; the number of days with a positive average daily air temperature is 210-220 days in a year (about 60%), the number of days with a negative daily average (the freezing period) is 145-155 days a year;
    2) Soil fertility. In the region chernozem soils are predominant (86,8% of total agricultural land fall to the share of chernozems) .
    Sufficient heat, a rather long vegetation period, a favorable structure of topsoil form suitable conditions for the cultivation of a large number of agricultural field and vegetable crops (total cultivated area of more than 50 kinds of crops).

    Water resources 99% of household water comes from underground aquifers

    Land resources Typical chernozems have a humic horizon of 80-100 cm with humus content in the topsoil of 9-12%.
