水資源 More than 20,000 watercourses with the combined length of more than 60 thousand km. The region has about 30% of the Western Siberia hydropower potential. The total length of 12,209 large and small mountain rivers is 42,277 km. There are about 7 thousand lakes in the region with the combined area of 700 sq. km. Huge reserves of fresh water are contained in the Altai glaciers.
森林資源 Forests cover an area of about 40 sq. km and are estimated to contain 700 million cubic meters of timber, including 600 million cubic meters of softwood. Overall forest cover is 43%. Especially valuable are the pine forests, covering an area of 125 million hectares. Mature and overmature forests amount to about 300 million cubic meters of timber.
