On 3 September, a square of relict plants of the Far East was planted on the waterfront of Ajax Bay. The event was held as part of the 6th Eastern Economic Forum. The project is supported by Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District.

"The Far East is a unique area of our country. The park’s creation is another opportunity to remind ourselves of this, to draw attention to the need to cherish our natural treasures and preserve our unique nature and fauna. I also hope that with the planting of public gardens, another programme will begin so that more parks, more green areas, and projects to create a comfortable urban environment will appear in the Far Eastern cities. I hope that one of the most active participants in this movement will be Vladivostok, as the capital of the Far East. After all, it is from this city that many participants and guests of the Eastern Economic Forum begin their acquaintance with the Russian Far East", noted Yury Trutnev.

Participants in the square planting included Alexei Chekunkov, Russia's Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic; Oleg Matytsin, Russia's Sports Minister; Konstantin Shestakov, head of Vladivostok; Alexander Stuglev, chairman of the board and director of the Roscongress Foundation; and representatives of federal and regional authorities.

On 3 September, the first 100 Far Eastern endemics were planted. Among them are Zibold magnolia, pointed yew, Manchurian apricot, Schlippenbach rhododendron, juniper, and others. All the seedlings for the park were grown by the Botanical Garden Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Each plant represents ancient species that grew on the planet thousands and even millions of years ago. Some of the species have remained only on Primorye's territory.

In 2022, an entire park will appear in the adjacent area with another 900 relict plants. The planting will also take place under the patronage of the Botanical Garden Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In order to purchase plants for the second phase, guests and participants in the EEF will be invited to take part in an auction, during which an amount can be paid to purchase specific plants, which will then take their place in the Far Eastern Relic Park.

The park was created at the initiative of the Vladivostok city administration and with the financial participation of the park's platinum partner JSC UMGK (JSC Vostochny Port), PJSC Sberbank and JSC Nakhodka Mineral Fertilizers Plant.
