It was established on June 6, 2011 and is a subsidiary of the Hevel Group, a joint venture between Renova Group and Rusnano . The company's primary activity is the production of electricity from renewable energy sources, including solar power plants, as well as ensuring their operational functionality.

Since its acquisition by Hevel in 2014, Avelar Solar Technology has become a key player in Russia's solar energy sector. The company has been involved in numerous large-scale projects across the country, including solar farms in the Republic of Kalmykia with a total capacity of 58.5 MW, and in the Saratov region. In 2018, the company also won a tender in Kazakhstan to build a 70 MW solar park, securing a 15-year power purchase agreement.
