The Roscongress Foundation, VEB Ventures, and the Far Eastern High
Technology Fund will hold the first specialized event called EASTBOUND.CAMP as
part of the Startup Lounge project during the fifth Eastern Economic Forum. The
event aims to prepare Russian technology companies to enter international
markets. Startups will have an opportunity to test out their business ideas and
get comprehensive expertise on ways to promote projects on the global market,
and then present them to potential investors from India and China.
The
popular format of bootcamp for training beginners, when participants gather in
one place for high-intensity classes, was selected for the event. The first
stage of EASTBOUND.CAMP will be held on 3 September at the Russky Technology
Park and will last a full day. During the event, experts will help teams draw
up a list of goals that aim to ensure the long-term development of a project,
talk about issues that are primarily of interest to venture investors, teach
them how to work with the media, and give recommendations on ways to enter
international markets and raise funding.
The
second stage will take place on 4 September at the EEF 2019 Innovation
Space in the format of a competitive session.
Per tradition, the panel of judges will include foreign experts as well as
potential investors in small projects from among Forum participants.
«Russia has numerous interesting ideas, developments, and promising teams
that are capable of creating world-class companies. At the same time, there is
somewhat of a deficit of completed projects that are ready for an independent
dialogue with investors. This trend is particularly noticeable in the regions.
In order to help companies in their early stages, we decided to hold a new
competition format with the EASTBOUND.CAMP at the EEF this year, which will
allow for the closest, most lively, and productive dialogue between the project
teams and our experts,» VEB Ventures CEO Oleg Teplov said.
«Carrying
out such an intensive course as EASTBOUND.CAMP as part of the Innovation Space
platform is an important initiative that can breathe new life into the
innovation market of the Far Eastern region. There are still numerous niches
here that have not been filled, and highly ambitious projects can be
implemented. Traditionally, numerous delegations from India, China, Japan,
Korea, and other countries come to the EEF. We see their great interest in
Russian technology projects,» Roscongress Foundation
CEO Alexander Stuglev said.
«The technology parks mission is to become a two-way bridge for Russian startups and our
Asian partners and for cooperation in high technology. In 2018, after joining
the Asian Science Park Association and the Association of High Technology
Zones, we began actively working with our foreign partners. And events such as
EASTBOUND.CAMP make it possible to expand the technology parks circle of partners and give our residents the opportunity to test the
waters once again and show themselves off to investors here, where they are
virtually at home. We are glad that we are looking the same way and moving in
the same direction with our partners,» Russky Technology Park CEO Dmitry Borovikov said.
