General Information

The Saratov region is located in the south-east of the European part of Russia, in the northern part of the Lower Volga region. This is a region with a unique individual appearance and a rich historical destiny.

In 2019, compared to 2018, the economy of the region showed positive dynamics in a number of indicators that determine the socio-economic development of the region.

The dominant economic activities of the region are:

production of finished metal products;
production of coke and petroleum products;
production of machinery and equipment not included in other groupings;
metallurgical production;
food production;
production of ₽ber and plastic products;
production of textile products;
production of chemicals and chemical products;
crop production and animal husbandry;
activities in the field of information and communication.

The Saratov Region is traditionally an industrial and agricultural region.

In terms of the production of certain types of industrial products, the region occupies a leading position in the Russian Federation and is among the top ten leading regions in the production of basic types of agricultural products. The region also has a fairly rich mineral resource potential.

The factors of investment attractiveness of the region include:

diversified industry structure;
a high share in the production of certain types of agricultural products in Russia;
significant resource potential: mineral resources, high availability of energy resources, significant water resources, availability of land resources for the production of agricultural products;
favorable transport and geographical location at the intersection of transport corridors for the creation of transport and logistics hubs and the performance of transit functions, the promotion of goods in the directions «„North-South“», "" West-East";
the presence of objective prerequisites for the appearance of the region’s function as a transport and logistics center;
availability of free investment sites.

Description of the regional economy

В структуре валового регионального продукта в 2022 г. основными видами экономической деятельности являлись: обрабатывающие производства – 18,5%; сельское, лесное хозяйство, охота, рыболовство и рыбоводство – 14,8; деятельность по операциям с недвижимым имуществом – 13,0; торговля оптовая и розничная; ремонт автотранспортных средств и мотоциклов – 10,3%.

В объеме инвестиций в основной капитал 59,9% заняли собственные средства, 40,1% – привлеченные средства. Объем финансовых вложений, поступивших в экономику области, составил 810 927 млн ₽.

Индекс промышленного производства по сравнению с 2022 г. составил 104,9%, по видам экономической деятельности

«Добыча полезных ископаемых» – 100,9, «Обрабатывающие производства» – 108,3, «Обеспечение электрической энергией, газом и паром; кондиционирование воздуха» – 96,0, «Водоснабжение; водоотведение, организация сбора и утилизации отходов, деятельность по ликвидации загрязнений» – 107,2%. В объеме отгруженных товаров собственного производства, выполненных работ и услуг собственными силами по добыче полезных ископаемых область занимает 34 место в России (в федеральном округе – 7), по обрабатывающим производствам – 30 (6), по обеспечению электрической энергией, газом и паром; кондиционированию воздуха – 16 (4), по водоснабжению; водоотведению, организации сбора и утилизации отходов, деятельности по ликвидации загрязнений – 28 (7).

В сельском хозяйстве преобладают мясомолочное скотоводство и мясошерстное овцеводство, развито птицеводство.

В растениеводстве область специализируется на выращивании зерновых культур, подсолнечника и плодово-ягодных культур.

Оборот розничной торговли составил 568,4 млрд ₽., или 108,0% (в сопоставимых ценах) к 2022 г. По уровню оборота розничной торговли на душу населения область заняла 70 место в Российской Федерации. В структуре оборота розничной торговли удельный вес пищевых продуктов, включая напитки, и табачных изделий составил 46,6%, непродовольственных товаров – 53,4%.

Оборот общественного питания составил 19,3 млрд ₽., или 102,5% (в сопоставимых ценах) к 2022 г.

Сальдированный финансовый результат (прибыль минус убыток) деятельности организаций составил 95 466 млн ₽.
